AVTAR Education Trust (AET) , dedicated to the memory of S Avtar singh Sandhu , a civil servant , a visionary and truly passionate about education and skilling of the underprivileged, has been in existence since the year 2008, Registered under Societies Act at Jagatpura, Mohali. The Heritage Public School (HPS) was established in the same year under the aegis of the Trust as a social enterprise, catering to formal primary education for children of economically weak sections

In the beginning, before the foundation of the institute was laid down, the premises was a water pond and an eye sore, however, it now quenches the thirst for knowledge of the children of this area. From very humble beginnings  with only forty children to over 400 children on active rolls , at present, the Heritage Public High School has become a hub of learning and developmental activity for the economically weaker sections of the area around.
